This table shows an 8-2 vote on July 23, 2025, by the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to subpoena the Department of Justice for release of The Epstein Files. The motion was introduced by Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., shown here with subcommittee chair Clay Higgins, R-La. The subpoena was served on the department in early August, but it took passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November to force release of the files.

Subcommittee Votes to Subponea Justice Department for Epstein Files Release
On July 23, 2025, the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform voted to subpoena the Department of Justice for the public release of The Epstein Files. Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., introduced the motion, which was adopted on a vote of 8-2. The motion stipulated that names of women and girls victimized by Epstein and his collaborators be redacted from the files.
The oversight committee served the subpoena on the Department of Justice in early August 2025. But it was not until late November 2025 that Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which President Trump signed into law on Nov. 19, 2025.
A yes vote was to require the immediate release of The Epstein Files.
