GOP-Controlled Rules Committee Blocks Epstein Transparency Bill
With four Democrats voting yes and nine Republicans voting no, the GOP-led House Rules Committee on Sept. 2, 2025, defeated a Democratic amendment to advance the Epstein Files Transparency Act (HR 4405) to the House floor for an up or down vote. The transparency bill on that date was buried in the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee. But a petition bearing 218 signatures later discharged it from the committee and sent it to a vote by the full House. The House and Senate passed the bill in late November and President Trump signed it into law on Nov. 19, 2025.
A yes vote was to advance the Epstein Files Transparency Act to the House floor.
