Senate Confirms Todd Blanche as U.S. Attorney General
The Senate on Aug. 8, 2026, voted 50-49 to confirm the nomination of Todd Blanche as U.S. attorney general. Former Atty. Gen. Pam Bondi told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that Blanche, her deputy at the time, “supervised [the] entire process” when the administration largely shirked compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Critics cited Blanche’s decision to transfer Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell from a maximum-security prison in Florida to a minimum-security facility in Texas; the department’s lax compliance with the transparency act; Blanche’s failure to bring charges based on evidence of sex crimes in The Epstein Files; and his apparent indifference to concerns expressed by Epstein victims in a closed-door meeting with him.
A yes vote was to confirm Blanche as attorney general.
